Aftercare: Supporting Your Healing Journey
You have just experienced something truly wonderful. A deep state of relaxation and connection. You may be feeling calm, inspired and grounded, as your mind, body and soul have released layers of tension and allowed space for peace. Perhaps you experienced a lightness within, met your spirit guides, or received insights about the path ahead. You may also have felt the intensity of release and emotion, leaving you slightly disorientated as you return to yourself.
Whichever way you experienced your session, know that it was uniquely and divinely designed for you. So, what happens next?
The Journey Continues
Your healing session is one moment on a longer path of growth and transformation. Healing is not a one-time fix. It unfolds gently over time, much like peeling back the layers of an onion. Each layer brings new understanding and opportunities to release, transform and realign.
In truth, healing begins long before the session itself. It starts with the simple act of awareness by recognising your energy state and choosing to seek balance.
The period that follows a healing session is a powerful window of integration. It is the time when your body, mind and spirit continue to process, reset and embody the energetic shifts that have taken place. This phase calls for gentleness, patience and self-compassion. With care and attention, you allow the healing to take root and flourish.
Below are some ways you can nurture yourself during this sacred window of integration, particularly over the following day or two.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water to support your body’s natural detoxification process. As the healing energies move through you, they release and clear what is no longer needed. Staying hydrated helps flush away these energies and keeps you balanced. Aim for around six to eight glasses of water throughout the day. You may notice that you feel more thirsty than usual as this is a common and positive sign that your body is integrating on a cellular level.
Rest with Intention
Allow yourself the gift of rest. Healing can bring emotions or sensations to the surface, and rest gives your body and nervous system time to recalibrate. Even if you already feel relaxed, modern life can quickly pull you back into a state of busyness. Set aside time to truly rest. Even an early night or an hour’s nap. This quiet space allows your healing to gently settle and integrate.
Ground and Protect
After a healing session, it is common to feel light, open or “floaty.” Grounding helps you anchor this energy into your physical body, bringing clarity, focus and a sense of being fully present. You might like to walk barefoot on the grass, sit under a tree or simply take a few deep breaths while imagining roots connecting you to the earth.
Protection goes hand in hand with grounding. It creates a safe energetic container, helping you maintain stability as the healing continues to unfold. I will share more about grounding and protection in a separate blog soon.
Eat Cleanly
Support your body by choosing nourishing, high-vibration foods. Healing draws in higher frequencies of light, and the food you eat can either enhance or hinder this integration. Fresh, whole and unprocessed foods hold a lighter, more vibrant energy, while heavily processed foods can feel dense and sluggish. Eating cleanly helps your body align with the energetic shifts taking place within you.
Avoid Overstimulation
Try to keep your environment calm and gentle for a day or two. Avoid intense activity or overstimulation where possible. Give yourself time to land softly back into the present moment. The quieter your surroundings, the easier it is for your energy to settle and your healing to deepen.
Reflect and Observe
Notice any sensations, emotions or thoughts that arise in the days following your session. Healing works on many levels such as the physical, emotional, spiritual and behavioural. Be kind and patient with yourself as you observe these changes. Journaling can be a helpful way to capture insights and track your journey.
Continue Your Healing Journey
Remember that healing is an ongoing process. Each session opens a new layer of awareness and release. You are the only one who can walk your path, but regular sessions can provide valuable support and momentum. Consistency deepens your connection to your healing journey and amplifies your results over time.
